Marion Finishes Regular Season with 34-21 Victory Over Benton Community

Benton Community needed a win at Marion for any shot at making the playoffs. The Indians were in the post season, but wanted to shut the door on the Benton and keep the momentum rolling.

Marion on their opening drive marched down the field and scored six off of Pat Tiernan's  run up the gut on 1st & goal.  The extra point was no good (6-0.)

Bobcat LB Davis McCloskey kept his team in the game when he sacked Indian QB Matt Barnd for a 7 yard loss in the 2nd quarter.

But a few plays later on 3rd & goal, Logan Pickering dove over the Benton defense for 6 points to make it 12-0.  Instead of trying for the extra point on a wet and soggy football field, coach Tony Perkins went for two points.  Pickering had his number called and he would score.

Marion won 34-21 & will host in the first round of the playoffs Wednesday night.
