Nashua-Plainfield Shuts Out BCLUW

NASHUA (KWWL) -- Coming into the final week of the high school football regular season, Nashua-Plainfield had already clinched a berth in the Class 1A playoffs, while BCLUW needed a win on the Huskies' home field and a little help to secure a bid in the postseason.

After forcing the Comets into a quick three-and-out on their first series, the Huskies moved the ball well to begin the game, but a sack on second down from just inside the twenty stalled a promising drive.

On their ensuing possession, BCLUW moved into Husky territory before quarterback Blake Zacharias was intercepted by N-P's Shane Weinberg, on of the five turnovers the two teams combined for.

Early in the second quarter, Nashua-Plainfield would put together the game's only scoring drive.  The Huskies used a big run up the gut by Andrew Fisher to set up Zack Mueller's 15 yard scoring pass to Marc Benning.  The point after made the score 7-0 Huskies at that point.

BCLUW would have a chance to score late in the first half.  But after converting a fourth and short with just seventeen seconds left, Zacharias was intercepted again on a pass to the endzone to end the threat.

Nashua-Plainfield's 7-0 halftime lead would hold up as the Huskies head into the postseason with a 6-3 record.
