Prairie Pulls Out 14-7 Win in Final Minute Vs. Xavier

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Cedar Rapids Prairie will go into the postseason with some much needed momentum.

With just 59 seconds remaining and the score tied, Prairie quarterback Alex Hanna hit Scott Schebler on a seam route for a 44 yard touchdown, propelling the Hawks to a 14-7 win and ending a two game skid.

After a scoreless first half bogged down by rain and sloppy conditions, Prairie scratched the socring column first late in the third quarter.  Senior Jace Kremer burst through a hole and raced 42 yards to put Prairie on top 7-0.

But Xavier would get the points right back.

The Saints' Patrick Lewis took the ensuing kickoff 85 yards for the tying score, and seemingly grabbed all the momentum back to the Xavier sideline.  Neither team, however, was able to do anything offensively, until Prairie's game-winning drive in the waning moments of the game.

Both teams finish the regular season at 6-3, and will head to the postseason.
