Greene's performance Heisman worthy

Posted:

Iowa City, Iowa -- A year ago Shonn Greene was selling furniture in Cedar Rapids with hopes that he might be able to work his way back into a Hawkeye uniform.  Now, he's given Heisman voters one more athlete to keep their eyes on.

Greene is currently the only back in the country to run for over a hundred yards in all 8 games this season.  Saturday was the biggest one yet as Greene shredded the Wisconsin defense for 217 yards, 4 touchdowns, including one incredible 34 yarder in the second quarter.

Quarterback Ricky Stanzi was impressed.  "He was breaking tackles, which he always does, but he was getting 2, 3, 4 broken tackles on a run that really helps us out."

"He outran the secondary on that long one," added receiver Andy Brodell, "it was a little surprising that he had that breakaway speed in him."

Iowa is off next Saturday, and will travel to Illinois to face the Illini in 2 weeks.
