Cedar Rapids sex offender pleads guilty

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (AP) - An 18-year-old man who was in court-ordered treatment for sexually abusing nearly 40 boys as a juvenile has pleaded guilty to abusing a roommate at a youth home in Marion.

Darrell K. Davis pleaded guilty earlier this week in Linn County Court to two counts of assault with intent to commit sexual abuse.

Court records say Davis performed a sex act on his 17-year-old roommate in December 2007 while he was staying at the Anita Daniels Center.

Police say they discovered during the investigation that a month earlier Davis attempted to assault a former roommate, another 17-year-old.

Davis, a registered sex offender since 2004, is rated at moderate-high risk to re-offend.
