Shenandoah school on lock down

SHENANDOAH, Iowa (AP) - Shenandoah High School is in lockdown after police received a report of a student with a gun.

Officials say a student in the school called the school office from a cell phone Friday morning to report that another student had a gun.

Superintendent Dick Profit says no weapon has been found.

Students were being kept in classrooms or secure stairwells while the building was being searched by police, sheriff's deputies and volunteer firefighters.

Profit says every locker, bag and student is being searched.

Parents of some students gathered outside the school waiting for more information after getting text messages from their children inside the school.

A dispatcher with the Shenandoah Police Department says no injuries have been reported.
