Cedar Rapids Halloween Parks and Rec Activities


Cedar Rapids, IA (City News Release)  The Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department is sponsoring the following Halloween activities:

Friday Night Spooky Swim (Ages 5-14 yrs.) - Friday, October 24, 6:00-8:30 p.m., Bender Pool, 940 14th Avenue SE. Celebrate Halloween at Bender Pool. Enjoy swimming and deck games. Admission is $4 per person and includes a bag of treats when you leave. No pre-registration is required. Swim passes are not accepted.

Special Populations Halloween Dance (All Ages) - Friday, October 24, 7:00-9:00 p.m., Iowa Hall, Kirkwood Community College. Put on your favorite costume and come to the 17th annual Halloween fling with live music by Night Moves. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes. The general public is encouraged to attend. Admission is $4 per person. No pre-registration is required. Call Rob Wagner, 286-5799, for more information.

Safe Halloween for Kids (Families) - Sunday, October 26, 12:00-3:00pm, Noelridge Park. Admission: $5 for anyone trick-or-treating. Bring the kids out for an old-fashioned Halloween filled with trick-or-treating, games and costume contests. Bring your best decorated pumpkin for a jack-o'-lantern contest. Admission may be paid at the door, but pre-registration is encouraged.

Ushers Scary on the Road (Ages 13+ only) - Saturday, October 25 and Friday, October 31, 6:30-10:00pm, Granger House, 970 10th Street, Marion and/or the Marion Heritage Center, 590 10th Street. Come to the Granger House for a good old-fashioned fright night in a haunted mansion. Then, go to the Heritage Center for a spooky tour of Old Marion, palm reading and a visit to the mortician's laboratory.  Visitors will be escorted between locations by shadowy residents from the past who will share their scary true stories. This evening of spine-tingling horrors is brought to you by the Cedar Rapids Parks & Recreation Department's Ushers Ferry and the Granger House. Admission paid at the door. $8/person for Granger House. $4/person at Marion Heritage Center. $12/person for both locations.
