Hikers find large patch of marijuana

COLUMBUS JUNCTION -- Hikers in southeast Iowa made an interesting find Tuesday - a patch of marijuana growing in a county recreation area near Columbus Junction.

The estimated street value of the plants is more than 50-thousand dollars.

The Louisa County sheriff's office says the plants seem to have been started in pots and then transplanted to the site.  The plants have been removed by the sheriff's department.
