Art back at U of I following floods

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Some of the art work from the University of Iowa Museum of Art's permanent collection has been returned to campus.

June's flooding forced officials to close the museum.

Nearly 250 works of art, including prints, photographs and drawings, are now available for viewing by appointment in the school's special collections.

The works on paper are among about 13,000 pieces of art evacuated before the flood to an art storage facility in Chicago. The remainder of the museum's permanent collection remains in storage.

June flooding caused an estimated $4 million damage to the Museum of Art building. Officials have not yet decided the long-term fate of the museum building.
