Main Street Waterloo head takes state job

Waterloo (KWWL) -- The executive director of Main Street Waterloo -- Terry Poe Buschkamp -- will try to help keep Iowa's economy strong. She's taken a job with the Iowa Department of Economic Development to impliment main street programs across the state. Poe Buschkamp leaves for her new job at the end of the month.

Waterloo, Iowa - Main Street Waterloo announced today the impending departure of Executive Director, Terry Poe Buschkamp. It was with mixed feelings that the Main Street Waterloo Executive Committee of the Board of Directors accepted her resignation, effective October 31, 2008. Ms. Buschkamp has accepted a position with the Iowa Department of Economic Development (IDED). She will be the Urban Neighborhood Main Street Program Consultant with the Downtown Resource Center within the IDED.

"Terry has been second to none in her passion and commitment to Main Street Waterloo and Waterloo as a whole for over nine years", said MSW Board President David Deeds. "We have been extremely fortunate to have her lead and coordinate our downtown revitalization efforts for such a long time. This new role is a great career opportunity for Terry and one that will allow her to share her expertise not only with Waterloo but other urban communities around the state."

As Urban Neighborhood Main Street Program Consultant, Ms. Buschkamp will help the IDED implement its Urban Neighborhood Main Street Program across the state.

Terry has been an excellent executive director for Main Street Waterloo and has worked to empower thousands of volunteers during her tenure. Her Waterloo experience of working with Iowans of every background will be put to good use," said Thom Guzman, Director of the Downtown Resource Center at IDED, "The citizens of Waterloo and the entire Cedar Valley should be very proud of Terry. It is because of Main Street Waterloo's commitment to excellence that Terry excelled. Many communities in Iowa will gain from Terry's experiences in downtown Waterloo."

Main Street Waterloo has formed a search committee and will begin a regional search to fill the Executive Director position.
