Worker shocked at Iowa's nuclear power plant

PALO, Iowa (AP) - Officials at Iowa's only nuclear power plant say they will conduct a thorough investigation after an electrician working in a non-nuclear section of the plant was shocked.

Officials say the worker came in contact with energized equipment at the Duane Arnold Energy Center on Wednesday.

Linn County paramedics responded. Plant spokeswoman Renee Nelson says treatment was provided before the ambulances arrived.

Nelson says the electrician, who was not identified, was conscious the whole time.

The worker, who was contracted by the plant, was treated and released from a hospital.

Nelson says plant officials will inspect the plant to find out what caused the injury and make sure safeguards are in place to protect employees.
