Bible may be to blame for High School lockdown

MARSHALLTOWN (KWWL) -- The Marshalltown High School was locked down Wednesday afternoon.

Investigators say students and staff are safe.

School had already been dismissed for the day when the situation began.  A custodian said he saw a person walk into a classrom carrying what he thought to be the black handle of a gun.

There were some students and staff inside at the time police searched the school.

The Times-Republican newspaper reports that a police officer on the scene told some staff involved in the lockdown they are looking for a former MHS graduate, Andy Worsfold, who was in the building reportedly with a gun.

Worsfold graduated from MHS.

Worsfold was questioned by investigators at the Marshalltown police department.

No arrests have been made in this case.

According to the Times-Republican newpaper, Jeanette Worsfold, Andy's mother, said that Andy Worsfold was at the school to attend a Bible study, and that he only had a Bible and a hat with him.
