Black Hawks look for redemption following finals loss

(Waterloo, IA)  Two years in a row the Waterloo Black Hawks have reached the USHL's Clark Cup Finals, and 2 years in row the Hawks failed to win the cup.

Now, it's a new season, and the black hawks are focused to make another run with a drive fueled by their last 2 disappointments, the last coming in a 3-2 series defeat to the Omaha Lancers.  Waterloo led the series 2-1 at one time.

However, right now Head Coach P.K. O'Handley says the drive in his players isn't quite as great as he believes it should be.

"I'd like to see some of the guys that played in that game a little more hungry than they are," says O'Handley, "I really would've expected we'd be a hungrier bunch, but we'll get there."

Forward Craig Smith, however, says the hunger is there.  "It burns pretty deep and guys are more hungry for it this year, especially me and Keegan (Meuer), 2 and 3 year guys that went back 2 years of losing it.  It hurts even more."

Waterloo opened the season this past Saturday with a 3 - 2 loss at Green Bay.
