Panthers prep for Illinois State on Homecoming

Posted:

(Cedar Falls, IA)  It's homecoming week at UNI, and the Panthers are preparing for a showdown with 2 - 2 Illinois State.  The team's coming off an extra 2 days rest following their win over Nicholl's State on Thursday, and UNI should be fresh and ready to go.

The Panthers waltzed in to Normal, Illinois last season and waltzed out with a 23-13 victory.  They're once again the obvious favorite, but leading rusher Corey Lewis is questionable with a sprained ankle, and panther Offensive Coordinator Bill Salmon knows the Redbirds will pose quite a challenge.

"They don't make very many mistakes, and it's a good football team.  They should've beaten Eastern Illinois over there.  They played Marshall and the other teams pretty tough, so it'll be a good contest for us."

Game time is set for 4:05 Saturday in the Dome.
