Immigration Forum Series Continues

WATERLOO (KWWL) -- Another immigration forum will be held on Oct. 14 at East High School as part of the "Moving Beyond What I Think I Know: An Immigration Series for the Cedar Valley."

The topic of this forum will be "Issues and Challenges for Today's Immigrants." David Meeks, executive director of the Waterloo Commission on Human Rights will moderate the forum. Speakers include UNI Professor Michele Yehieli, executive director of the Iowa EXPORT Center of Excellence on Health Disparities, and Mario Basurto, executive director of El Centro Latinoamericano.

The forum will take place from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the East High auditorium located at 214 High St., and is free and open to the public. The forum series is being sponsored by various religious, immigration support and education organizations in the Cedar Valley.

The series continues Oct. 21 with "Welcoming the Stranger and Oct. 28 with "Immigration: The Impact and Our Response."
