Sioux City man sentenced in slaying

A Woodbury County judge has sentenced a Sioux City man to 25 years in prison for his role in the deadly shooting of a man whose body was found along a rural road last winter.

A jury in August convicted Jeremy Williams of willful injury causing serious injury and third-degree kidnapping. He was sentenced on Monday.

Williams was charged in the Jan. 15 shooting death of Zachary Cooper, of Sioux City. His body was found on Jan. 17 in Lawton.

Another man charged in the killing, Samuel Wright, was convicted of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery and first-degree kidnapping. Wright faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole when he's sentenced on Oct. 17.

Prosecutors say the killing started out as a drug deal.
