PARKERSBURG (KWWL) -- Another milestone is about to be celebrated in Parkersburg, with groundbreaking on a new commercial building.  For the last four months, the Butler County community has been rebuilding since an EF-5 tornado ripped through Parkersburg May 25th.

A 9,500 square foot building is going to be constructed at the intersection of Highways 14 and 57.  It will have four or five commercial spaces.  The groundbreaking for that building will be Monday.

"The Parkersburg Family Dental Office will be the first one to go in and U.S. Cellular has committed to coming in," said Parkersburg Economic Development Director Virgil Goodrich.

Goodrich says the $725,000 dollar project, which will be paid for with U.S.D.A. Rural Development loans, will be a big step toward life returning to normal.

"Any new business that will come in will certainly help economically, and also the having the business that was destroyed being able to reestablish," said Goodrich.

The city's goal is to have the dental office moved in by December.  Once the other spaces are filled up, expansion is a possibility.
