Two men injured after attempted robbery

IOWA CITY (KWWL) -- Two people are recovering from head injuries in Iowa City after police say, men tried to rob them.

Police responded to University Hospitals and Clinics where the victims were being treated early Sunday.  The victims, whose names have not been released, told police the altercation occurred around 1:30 a.m. Sunday at the corner of East College St. and Gilbert St.  The victims told police they were both hit in the head after two men tried to rob them of cash.

The first suspect is described as a black male between 20 and 23 years of age, 6 feet tall, weighing between 165lbs and 185lbs, with short hair, a goatee and was wearing a white t-shirt and jeans.

The second suspect is described as a Hispanic male with a tattoo on the back of his neck and forearm.

Police were told the two suspects left in a red four door vehicle following the attack.
