Convicted murderer captured after work release escape

FAYETTE COUNTY (KWWL) -- Some tense moments Saturday morning in Fayette County after a convicted murderer didn't return from work release.  He was captured a few hours later.

Authorities say 36-year old Jeffrey Chamberlain didn't return from work on time.

At 5:00 Saturday morning, the Department of Corrections classified Chamberlain as an escapee.  Authorities found Chamberlain not long after that.

Chamberlain was convicted in Scott County in 1990 for second degree murder, first degree robbery and attempted burglary.  He is serving an 85 year sentence.

Chamberlain was put on work release in May.  He's back in the West Union Work Release Facility.
