CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -- Iowa City High overcame another slow start on offense to knock off Cedar Rapids Kennedy, 14-0.  The Little Hawks rode their defense to remain unbeaten while the Cougars dropped their 3rd in a row and fell to 3-3.

Neither team got on the board in the opening 24 minutes.  Kennedy missed a 37-yard field goal in the 1st, while City High missed a 37-yard field goal in the 2nd.  Both teams were intercepted in the final minute of the first half.

City High came out of the locker room and dominated the time of possession in the 3rd quarter.

Quarterback A.J. Derby converted a 4th-and-4 from the Kennedy 23 by hitting John Chelf for a 12-yard gain.  Derby then hit Noah Cmiel from 4 yards out for the game's first score.  City High led 7-0 after 3.

Kennedy stuffed City High on 4th and goal at the 1 in the 4th to stay in the game.  But the Little Hawks quickly got the ball back and after a 15-yard Derby run to the 1-yard line, Clay Embree put the game away with a 1-yard touchdown run.  City High held on for the 14-0 win.
