Students learn about West African drumming

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- Fifth graders in the Cedar Valley got a lesson in drumming from a West African man Friday.

It's part of the "Visions of Africa: Art and Ritual" exhibit at the University of Northern Iowa.

Students not only had the chance to listen to the drums but also learned a little about West African culture and language.

"We're the windows to the world for some people that may not be able to travel abroad or even out of the state. It brings taht culture to them and allows them to expirence different things," said public affairs coordinator Jore Wade-Booth.

There will also be an adult workshop on Saturday at the UNI Museum.
