NORTH LIBERTY (KWWL) - At least three law enforcement agencies responded to a bank robbery Wednesday afternoon in North Liberty. Police say a white male entered the MidwestOne Bank along Highway 965 around 2 p.m., and threatened that he had a gun. Witnesses told police he then left westbound with an unknown amount of cash.

Jennifer Weiler works at Fareway, just next door to the bank. She says she noticed the commotion when customers began to ask questions. "They were like, what's going on over there?" she told us. She says other employees told her about it when they were in the parking lot. "They saw a squad car, and then one of our girls saw a police car, then we saw more and more of them coming in."

Police told Newschannel 7 that a plane was in the air, searching nearby cornfields. They also say a K-9 unit led them into a housing development West of the bank, where they searched a residence for some time. However, police still don't know what connection, if any, the suspect had to that area.

The suspect is described as a white male, with a light build, black hair and facial hair, wearing blue jeans and carrying a blue backpack. Anyone with information should call police.
