Disaster plan: backing up digital files regularly

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -- This summer many eastern Iowans learned the importance of having a disaster plan the hard way.

Wednesday local businesses, schools, and government came together to discuss options for their disaster plan. Representatives from IBM and ACES discussed the importance of backing up digital information.

The main message of the day was to have a disaster plan and run through it --  that can be the difference between starting your business back up in a number of hours to a number of weeks.

"It's important to have a plan. It's important to be intentional about your future. Just like we plan for our future-our retirement and for our health with insurance, it's important to plan for those unforseen events that are going to take place," said event coordinator Wendy Knapp.
