Lincoln Elementary students to participate in West African Drum Workshop

CEDAR FALLS (KWWL)- Fifth graders at Lincoln Elementary in Waterloo will experience the heart-thumping beats and infectious energy of West African drummer Madou Dembele this Friday at 2 p.m.

An adult workshop and performance will be open to the public on Saturday, Oct. 4. The workshop will take place from 2:30-4 p.m. at the University Museum, 3219 Hudson Road, Cedar Falls. Cost is $10 per person. Register by calling (319) 273-2188.

Madou Dembele was raised in Mali, West Africa, Dembele comes from 33 generations of jembe players. Dembele has performed with Stevie Wonder and Blue Man Group, and has been a featured performer for six months at Disney World.
