A-P holds off Huskies on Homecoming

It's the return to the Sacred Acre in class 1-A District 3 as top ranked Aplington-Parkersburg plays its second home game of the season against Nashua-Plainfield.

Aplington-Parkersburg put up baketball numbers in its first three victories averaging nearly 50 points a game.  Nashua-Plainfield bounced back from its first loss of the season to 2-A power Sumner-Fredericksburg with an impressive 64-0 win over Denver.

The Falcons would strike first at the start of the second quarter, from three yards out Collin Tenney would take it in. A-P would miss the extra point.

The Huskies, however, would not go quietly into that dark night. Running back Steven Hillegas breaks free and he hits the gas, taking the ball 55 yards to the big house. The game would be tied six to six.

The Falcons would not lay down though, Tenney once again taking it in from three yards out. Minutes later Alec Thompson would take it in himself from seven yards out, putting A-P up 20 to six.  Next half back Alex Hornbuckle breaks free and takes it 60 yards to the house. To cap it off Thompson would take it in for the two point conversion.  At the end of the first half the Falcons were up 28 to six.

The Huskies were able to put up some big points in second, but it was not enough as A-P  tops the Nashua-Plainfield 50 to 32.
