Iowa game could set course for Pitt's season

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pittsburgh was expected to be firmly locked into the Top 25 by now. Iowa was supposed to be its first major test.

Bowling Green changed all that.

Now, the first Iowa-Pittsburgh game in 56 years may be 1 of those pivotal games that determines the course of a team's season. For the Panthers, it may hint at whether they are ready to start winning regularly with their conference schedule about to start.

Pittsburgh, which lost its opener to Bowling Green, certainly doesn't want to go into their Big East schedule at 1-2 after three home games. To avoid that, they must keep from being pushed around on Saturday by the bigger Hawkeyes.

For Iowa, it's an opportunity to gain a quality road victory against a BCS conference opponent. The Hawkeyes started the season by beating Maine, Florida International and rival Iowa State at home.
