Invasive interventional procedures are performed at Mercy Medical Center and St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Frequently performed invasive procedures include:

  • Catheter Angiography
  • Angioplasty
  • Stent Placement
  • CT-Guided Needle Biopsy
  • Fluoroscopy-Guided Needle Biopsy
  • Ultrasound-Guided Needle Biopsy
  • Uterine Fibroid Embolization

These procedures can usually be performed on an outpatient basis, though in some cases overnight admission after the procedure is recommended. Uterine fibroid embolization typically requires overnight hospitalization.

  • TIPS (Trans jugular Intrahepatic Porto systemic Shunt)
  • Vertebroplasty (cement injection into spinal compression fractures for pain relief)
  • Image Guided Thoracentesis and Paracentesis (drainage of chest or abdominal fluid)

Non-invasive procedures are also available at both hospitals.
