Waterloo man charged with felony assault


CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) Cedar Falls police say they've charged a man from Waterloo in connection with an assault on Main Street, on Monday June 4th. Police say the victim, Condy Beninga, was transported from Sartori Hospital to transported to University of Iowa Hospitals, with serious, life threatening head injuries. 

Police say Beninga was in a verbal confrontation with several people in the 400 block of Main Street.  They say Jason Scott Wanke, age 30, of Waterloo, hit Beninga. 

Police arrested Wanke on Wednesday August 6th, for assault causing serious injury, a class D felony.

A class D felony is punishable to not more than five years in prison, and in addition shall be fined at least seven hundred fifty dollars, but not more than than $7,500.
