(KWWL) -

Voters in a handful of eastern Iowa communities cast their ballots at the polls Tuesday during a series of bond votes tied to school projects.

Two new intermediate schools for 5th and 6th graders will be built within the Linn-Mar Community School District after a $55 million dollar bond vote was approved on Tuesday. The unofficial results show that vote was carried by 5,469 "Yes" ballots (66.32%) to 2,777 "No" votes submitted (33.67%).

In Monticello, unofficial results have a $15 million bond passing by a tally of 1,427 "Yes" votes (70.9%) to 586 "No" votes (29.1%). That bond will help pay for a new middle school addition onto the existing high school in Monticello.

Meanwhile in Bellevue, unofficial results show a $16 million bond for a new elementary school has been rejected by voters. Out of 1882 total votes, 821 supported the bond (43.62%), while 1,056 people voted against it (56.11%).

A continuance on a $39 million bond levy for Northeast Iowa Community College passed easily with the approval from voters across nine counties on Tuesday, with that unofficial tally coming in at 743 "Yes" votes (89.94%) to just 84 "No" votes (10.16%).
