Name of woman killed in deadly Waterloo shooting released

UPDATE: Waterloo Police tell us 48-year-old Diane Martin was shot and killed on Monday.

They say Martin was taken to Allen Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.  

On September 12th, 2018 an autopsy was conducted by the Iowa State Medical Examiner’s Office and determined Diane Martin died as the result of a single gunshot wound.

This is an ongoing investigation.

Waterloo Police are asking anyone with information to come forward.  



Waterloo Police confirm two shootings happened Monday night, and one of them turned deadly.

Around 6:30 p.m., officers were called to the 700 block of Logan Ave for a shots fired report. The victim, Corey Dunn, 18, went to Allen Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

Later Monday night, around 9:45, Waterloo Police and Fire responded to 84 Ricker on another report of shots fired. Officers found a female with a gunshot wound. Police say she died at Allen Hospital.

The victim's name is being withheld while all family is notified.


Waterloo police were seen working a crime scene on Monday night, with a heavy presence of officers in the area of Ricker Street and Ankeny Street.

A KWWL crew was at the scene, and while a dispatcher with the Waterloo Police Department confirmed an investigation, they could not say what caused the heavy response.
