CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The Cedar River continues to rise in Cedar Rapids. It's expected to crest tonight at 15.8 feet, which is just below major flood stage.

One area cemetery, hit by days of relentless rain, says quote, "Now they have another mess to deal with."

Oak Hill Cemetery in Cedar Rapids says this weekend, possibly late Friday night, people littered part of the grounds with garbage and alcohol.

They also drove on grave sites, leaving tracks in the grass. The drivers even let their vehicles get just a few feet away from headstones.

Workers with Oak Hill Cemetery say this is disrespectful.

Superintendent Carl Thoresen says, "'Treat the cemetery like you do your grandma and where she lives. You're not going to go over to your grandma's house and throw trash and who knows what up there. It's just terrible."

Oak Hill Cemetery says they're going to need to use grass seed, rakes and shovels to repair the tracks left in the mud. They also say they haven't been able to mow in some areas because the ground's been so soggy this week.
