UPDATE: The Oelwein Police Department released an update regarding the situation of a suspicious male in Oelwein Friday morning.

Arrests warrants have been issued for Emilio Austin Torres, 28, of Oelwein. The suspect remains at-large at this time.

A police report says the Oelwein police were called to the 100 block of West Charles around 8:45 a.m. Friday morning of a report of a male involved in a domestic disturbance, in the street, with a female. After police found the male and female in the 800 block of 1st Street SW, they discovered that the male had a gun. The man reached for his gun and after a short altercation, ran to his house in the 100 block of West Charles and went into his car as other law enforcement vehicles arrived. A pursuit was initiated after the man attempted to elude, taking path of various roadways in the southwest quadrant of the community, operating at speeds of 60 and 80 mph in the residential neighborhoods.

As the investigation progressed, police received information that the man was potentially working his way to a location at or near the Oelwein High School, Middle School, and Little Husky Learning Center. School officials were contacted as a precaution and were requested to go into a lock-out as officers continued to search the area for the suspect.

The schools remained in lock-out until the end of the school day and officers provided extra presence at these locations during dismissal for the day.

Again, the suspect remains at-large at this time.

Torres is being charged with Domestic Assault, Weapons Violation, Interference with Official Acts while in possession of a firearm, Eluding Law Enforcement, and various traffic violations. Other charges are pending.
