JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

UPDATE: A Pennsylvania man dies after a collision happened between his motorcycle, a second motorcycle and a semi-trailer truck along Interstate 80 in Johnson County on Wednesday.

The Iowa State Patrol says John Harvey, of Manor, Pennsylvania, was riding alongside Raymond Mitchell Jr. going east on I-80 near mile marker 250 when they slowed for stopped traffic because of an initial accident further down the highway around 5:41 p.m. on Wednesday. The semi was also traveling east, and was unable to stop in time for the slowing motorcycles, running into the back of both. Patrol authorities say all three vehicles came to a rest in the south ditch of the road.

An ISP report on the crash says Harvey died at the scene, while Mitchell Jr. (from Youngstown, Pennsylvania) was also taken to a nearby hospital for injuries sustained in the collision. The driver of the semi was Janesville, Wisconsin native Bobby Stephen, according to the patrol. He was also taken to the hospital following the crash.

The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate the crash, and was assisted at the scene by the Iowa Department of Transportation and emergency responders with Johnson County.
