DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Vice President Mike Pence is making a return trip to Iowa next Wednesday for a tax policy-themed event in Des Moines.

The organization America First Policies is hosting the event at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center Grand Ballroom, with a start time listed for 1 p.m. on August 15. A description for the event says the recently-passed Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will be explained and discussed for attendees, with Pence listed as a special guest. President Trump signed the $1.5 trillion act into law last December. Wednesday's event is open to the public.

The Iowa visit will be Pence's second of the summer, after the vice president came to Cedar Rapids last month. During that stop, Pence toured Rockwell Collins alongside U.S. Representative Rod Blum. Governor Kim Reynolds was also at the event, which showcased one of eastern Iowa's largest employers.

Rep. Blum also appeared on a roundtable panel with President Trump in Peosta in July. Iowa's current representative for the state's 1st Congressional District is facing Democratic challenger Abby Finkenauer in this November's election.
