Body found in Lee County has been identified; not Mollie Tibbetts

LEE COUNTY (KWWL) -

The Lee County Sheriff's Office confirms the body that was found has been identified as 20-year-old Sadie Alvarado of Muscatine.

They say 28-year-old Damian Hamann of Morning Sun has been charged with Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in a Death.

According to a press release, Hamann later turned himself into the Lee County Sheriff's Office. 

The case is still under investigation. The Iowa Department of Public Safety’s Division of Criminal Investigation, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Attorney’s Office and the Lee County Medical Examiner’s Office are involved in this investigation.

The Department of Public Safety says the body of a white woman in her early to mid-20s has been found in rural Lee County.
The Lee County Sheriff's Office was called early on Sunday for the report. 
A news release from DPS says investigators are aware of the search for missing University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts, and have no reason to believe the body is that of Mollie Tibbetts. 
According to investigators, "there will be no other comments or statements released at this time in reference to the Lee County death investigation or the Mollie Tibbetts investigation."
