UPDATE: Evansdale standoff ends peacefully

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: Several agencies were on scene of an incident in Evansdale Monday morning.

Evansdale Chief Jeff Jensen says police got a tip around 6:00 a.m. there was a wanted fugitive in a house in the 300 block of Norma Ave.

Chief Jensen says police looked through the window and saw Jason Back sitting on the couch. At that point, Jensen says they surrounded the house and obtained a search warrant. Police say there were rumors that Black had a weapon on him, which resulted to Evansdale Police calling the Black Hawk County TAC team. Jensen says authorities tried to get him out of the house, but he would not cooperate, resulting in a standoff.

Two hours later, police fired tear gas into the house.

"He had some issues going on, we took him out to the hospital to get him evaluated," said Jensen. "Then, he'll probably be going to jail. We've been looking for him for probably six months or so now."

Jensen says no one was hurt.

At this time, no charges have been filed, however, the investigation is ongoing.
