JANESVILLE (KWWL) -

Chloe Kiene's three-run blast in the fifth inning powered Janesville past North Tama 6-1 in a class 1A regional quarterfinal on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats, however, really got all they needed in the third inning. Sophomore Julia Meister reached on a shortstop error that scored her older sister Kennedy for a 2-0 lead going to the fourth inning.

North Tama responded in the next frame as Tessa Dvorak smacked a base hit in to right field to score Carissa Calderwood and pull the Redhawks back within one. Kiene, however, blasted her three-run shot well over the wall in center to put the game away in the fifth inning.

Janesville will host North Butler in a regional semifinal on Friday night.
