UPDATE: Police have confirmed who led them on a chase last week through downtown Waterloo.

Police say Gregory Burkett, 38, was the man involved. Police say he's been charged with Driving While Suspended, Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, OWI 1st Degree, and Eluding.

Police confirm no one got hurt.

Waterloo Police have taken a driver into custody following a chase Wednesday evening.

Several squad cars were following a driver, with multiple cars even driving past the KWWL building.

Several members of the KWWL News Team witnessed an officer trying to use stop sticks but they did not work.

Police eventually stopped the driver near the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office.

Waterloo Police say the chase emerged from a routine traffic stop in the 200 block of Courtland Street. The identity of the driver, who was taken into custody, is not being made public at this time. Officers say charges are pending.
