Iowa Wave shirt back in gold, organizers hope to raise $1 million for children's hospital

Posted: Updated:

Instead of "Back in Black", The Iowa Wave is back in gold and has a big goal set for this year.

On September 2, 2017, nearly 70,000 people stood together at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City and waved to children staying at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital.

Since then, the organization has raised more than $440,000 for the hospital. This year, organizers hope to more than double that.

Today, the Iowa Wave will begin selling gold Wave Shirts for the 2018 football season.

Organizers hope to raise $1 million to help the children at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital by the end of the season.

Iowa Wave shirts can be purchased by going online to www.theiowawaveshirt.org and will also be available for purchase at Hy-Vee and Von Maur stores.

They will also be available starting July 1 at HyVee and Von Maur.
