UPDATE: Murder charge added after Waterloo man dies in alleged assault

UPDATE: A man accused of assaulting an apartment complex maintenance worker now faces a murder charge.
According to to the Black Hawk County Sheriff's Office, Martavis Wise is now charged with second-degree murder in the death of 72-year-old Hans Rodenburgh. Police say Wise beat Rodenburgh at an apartment building in the 1200 block of West Mullan Avenue on June 13.
Wise was being held on a $1 million bond for the initial charge in the Black Hawk County Jail, but the second-degree murder charge does not list a bond amount.

UPDATE: According to a family member, Hans Rodenburgh has died. A prayer service will be held at the apartment complex where Rodenburgh worked on May 22nd at 6PM. We reached out to Waterloo police for more information, stay with KWWL for more updates.

A Waterloo man is facing charges, accused of putting a 72-year-old man in the hospital.
Waterloo Police and Waterloo Fire Rescue were called on Wednesday for a report of an assault in the 1200 block of West Mullan Avenue.
Officers say Martavis Wise, 27, was arrested for Willful Injury, causing serious injury. They say he beat up Johannes Rodenburgh, 72, leaving him with serious injuries.
Rodenburgh was taken to Covenant Medical Center for injuries to his head and neck. 
Wise is being held on a $100,000 bond.
