Iowa women’s basketball team will take on defending national champion Notre Dame on Thursday, Nov. 29, in Notre Dame, Indiana, as part of the 2018 ACC/Big Ten Challenge, the league office announced Monday.

It will be the fourth meeting between Notre Dame and Iowa. The Fighting Irish lead the all-time series, 3-0. The teams last met in Carver-Hawkeye Arena as part of the 2016 ACC/Big Ten Challenge with Notre Dame, the nation’s top-ranked team at the time, defeated Iowa, 73-58.

Notre Dame won its second national title in program history last season, defeating Mississippi State, 61-58, in the championship. The Fighting Irish finished the season with a 35-3 overall record.

Last year’s challenge proved to be one of the most competitive in the event’s history, with 10 of the 14 games decided by 10 points or fewer, including four games decided by one point. The ACC ultimately prevailing by a 10-4 count. Iowa is 3-8 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

The ACC and Big Ten have been among the most competitive conferences on the national women’s basketball landscape, with both conferences sending 10 schools to the postseason in 2017-18.
