WATERLOO (KWWL) -

The dynasty marched on. Waterloo Columbus didn't even need to go to the doubles matches as the Sailors topped Pella five matches to one to win the class 1A girls' state tennis title. The win marked the sixth consecutive championship for Columbus and the 20th overall in program history.

Sophomore Elysse Trost made the most of her first opportunity. Trost battled a scrappy opponent in Pella's Madison Poe before finishing the match in the second set tiebreaker. Trost's win gave the Sailors their fifth win, clinching the title.

"Dave Will, our head coach, and Chuck Schupbach, our assistandt coach, they're amazing," said Trost after putting the match away, "Mr. Will has been to so many state tournaments, and I just have to thank them because they've pushed me so hard the past few months."

Columbus advanced to the finals match after defeating Glenwood 5-0 earlier on Saturday.
