CLAYTON COUNTY (KWWL) -

A 28-year-old motorcyclist is accused of inducing deputies in Clayton County on a high-speed chase that crossed over the Mississippi River and into Wisconsin.

Deputies say the chase began when the motorcycle sped away from a traffic stop attempt along Highway near Goldmine Road, west of McGregor on Sunday night. The motorcyclist was observed by deputies traveling 82 miles per hour in a 55 speed limit zone, going east around 8:30 p.m.

The ensuing chase took deputies into Wisconsin on Highway 18, with the motorcycle topping speeds of 120 miles per hour at times. The chase continued in Prairie du Chien, where police officers also took up the pursuit. Deputies say the motorcyclist eventually lost control and crashed within the city.

Timothy Timler, of Prairie du Chien, was arrested and charged following the chase, and after sustaining minor injuries in the crash. He'll be brought back to Iowa on an eluding charge.
