MASON CITY (KWWL) -
The Iowa Department of Public Safety is investigating, after skeletal remains are found in rural Mason City.
Investigators say the remains have likely been there between 5 and 15 years; they are believed to be from a white woman between 20 and 45 years of age, with a height between 5 foot to 5 foot, 7 inches tall.
The State Medical Examiner's Office was able to determine the remains are not those of missing news anchor Jodi Huisentruit. She went missing in 1995, and her remains have never been found.
The remains in question were found on May 20th. The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call in the afternoon that the remains were found in the 22000 block of 275th Street.
Deputies say an autopsy was performed on May 23, and at this time, the results aren't being released.
If you have any information regarding a missing person from the area, contact the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff's Office at (641) 599-4239.
