Sanitary sewer overflow in Dubuque

Posted: Updated:

A clogged sanitary sewer line caused untreated waste water to flow onto a Dubuque street and into the storm sewer system.

The Dubuque Works Department said it happened on Saunders Street. They were notified of the plugged line Wednesday morning. It was caused by debris from a manhole replacement early this week.

Crews were able to remove the blockage.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources warns people to keep children and pets away from the area for 48 hours.
