Dubuque police say student cut classmates with a razor

DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

According to our media partners at the Telegraph Herald, Dubuque police confirm a student used a disposable razor to cut two classmates.

They say this happened Wednesday morning at Eleanor Roosevelt Middle School.

The Telegraph Herald reports that Principal Jeff Johll notified parents via email. The names of the children involved are not being released.

The email said school officials contacted authorities when they found out about the incident.

“It was confirmed the cuts were not done out of anger,” Johll wrote in the email. “The student responsible will receive appropriate disciplinary action, and charges are also expected to be filed by the Dubuque Police Department.”

The principal says the students' wounds did not require emergency medical attention, but the district did urge families to have their children examined by medical providers as a precaution.

“This was not a result of a disturbance, but was definitely the result of poor decision-making and immature behavior,” Johll wrote in an email. “The parties knew each other, and in one of the cases, a student consented to the cutting.”
