May 25, 2008 is a day many eastern Iowans will not forget. Six tornadoes were confirmed across eastern Iowa, including the powerful EF-5 tornado that moved through portions of Butler and Black Hawk counties.
Mayor Perry Bernard and his family survived the tornado, after their home in Parkersburg took a direct hit. He and his family decided to rebuild. Bernard describes his experience, and talks about how far Parkersburg has come.

She describes how her town came together after the tornado, and why it was important to have "The Curve" gas station built in 2010.
