UPDATE: Shooting victim's family speaks out

UPDATE: After a deadly shooting, Saturday morning, the family of the victim is speaking out.

Gregory K. Walker, 33, was shot and killed in what his family says was a robbery attempt.

Walker's family says he is an innocent victim in the incident and has no ties to gang activity.

The family is calling for justice and asking for those with information about the shooting to come forward.

"They took him away from his four kids, his family, his friends and most of all, his mother. I just miss him so much. Whoever did it, just turn yourself in, please. That is all I am asking. That is it," said Walker's mother, Annette Davis.

The family is holding a vigil for Walker on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Pilgrim's Rest Baptist Church.

The shooting was one of three overnight shootings in Waterloo. Several others were injured in the shootings.


Waterloo Police have released the name and age of the man who died over the weekend in a shooting.

Police confirm Gregory K. Walker, 33, died after suffering from a gunshot wound. He was treated on scene, at 639 Gable Saturday morning, and later died at Allen Hospital. An autopsy will be performed today.

Police also have released the names of others involved in two other shootings from over the weekend.

Waterloo Police say Devonte D. Wright, 17, and Cashee M. Williams, 21, suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting which occurred in the area of Linn and Cottage.

Then, police also confirm, Davon D. Caldwell, 22, received a gunshot wound in the 1600 block of Sycamore St. His injury was non-life-threatening; he was treated at Allen Hospital. 


Police say a person has been killed in one of four overnight shootings that left three others wounded.

Officers were called to a house around 5:15 a.m. Saturday and found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

In another shooting around 4:35 a.m., another person was shot, suffering injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Around 1:15 a.m., two people were shot in a separate incident. They, too, suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Police had not identified any of the victims by late Saturday afternoon.


One person is dead and at least three others are hurt after multiple reports of shots fired early this morning in Waterloo.

Waterloo Police Officers responded to multiple shots fired calls in the area of the 1300 block of E. 4th Street after midnight.

Just before 12:15 a.m., officers responded to the area of Linn and Cottage, where they found two victims with non-life threatening gunshot wounds, as well as damage to a car.

Just after 4:30 a.m., officers responded to the area of the 1600 block of Sycamore St. for a different report of shots fired. While investigating the scene, they were notified of a shooting victim arriving at Allen Hospital with non-life threatening injuries from a shooting.

At approximately 5:16 a.m., officers then responded to the 600 block of Gable for another report of shots fired. There, they found a victim with serious gunshot wounds. The victim was taken by ambulance to Allen Hospital, where he later died. 

No names are being released at this time.

The Waterloo Police Department is asking anyone with information to come forward.
