"Daddy loves you," Dad's plea to missing La Porte City teen

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

For nearly six weeks, we have been reporting on the search for missing La Porte City teen Jake Wilson.

The search continues for the 16-year-old boy with autism. In fact, yesterday you may have seen a National Guard helicopter that was brought in to help in the ongoing search for Jake.

He was last seen on April 7th, when he went for a walk near Wolf Creek.

Hundreds have stepped in to help with the search for Jake. We have spoken with many volunteers during the search, but we have not heard a lot directly from Jake's family.

KWWL's Amanda Gilbert met with Jake's biological dad.

Mike Wilson, of Waterloo, says he believes Jake might still be alive, and that someone might have taken him.

"I just want to know if he's gone, or if he's with the Lord. Hopefully that ain't the case. Hopefully he's seeing this on someone's T.V. Come home Jake. Daddy misses you."

Wilson says he remembers the first time he heard Jake was missing. "I hopped up and I was like let's get going, let's get looking. Our last conversation was over the phone, and he was like I love you. When can I see you again?"

Since that final call, many weeks have passed without answers. KWWL asked why Wilson thinks someone took his son.

"Like I said, the leads, they haven't found anything. They found hardly any clothing, no clothing."

Wilson says if someone abducted his son, to please, "Let him go. Let him come home to his mom, step dad, me; I mean he has too many people that love him."

KWWL asked what would Wilson do if he ever saw Jake again. Wilson says, "I'd hug him and I'd say don't you ever walk away like that again, boy. I'd just hug him and tell him we missed him."

Wilson says he is thankful to everyone who has helped search for Jake. He also says he's been able to lean on another area dad during this tough time.

Drew Collins is the father of Elizabeth Collins. She and her cousin were found dead back in 2012. Mike Wilson says he and Drew have become friends through this long, painful ordeal.
