LA PORTE CITY (KWWL) -
A helicopter has been pulled in to help in the search for missing La Porte City teenager Jake Wilson.
Wilson is on the autism spectrum, and he was last seen on April 7 in La Porte City.
According to La Porte City Police Chief Chris Brecher, the search team worked with the Iowa National Guard during a training mission on Wednesday.
The team hovered a CS 47 over Wolf Creek, and used the down pressure from the helicopter to create a disturbance in the water.
Chief Brecher says they helicopter had the potential to free any objects stuck in the water. After the helicopter hovered, kayak teams made their way down the creek to see if anything changed.
This is all happening as search crews are also using an excavator to pull things out of the water. The Chief says they're very pleased with the progress they've made. Right now, some portions of the Cedar River they hope to search are flooded, so Chief hopes by Monday they'll be able to get back into the water and make sure things aren't missed.
